International Orality Network, North America Regional Conference
1 Word 4 All: Embodying Jesus in a Post-Textual Society
The International Orality Network is an affiliation of agencies and organizations working together with the common goal of making God’s Word available to oral communicators in culturally appropriate ways that enable church planting movements everywhere.
For centuries, Christianity has been shaped to reach the educated. Believers are encouraged to read the Bible and Christian books, while ministers preach by studying commentaries and theology. Literacy shapes the very way we process our faith and determines how we communicate.
However, in today’s modern society, there are a growing number of communities who use very different forms of communication. If we want to see Christ take root in these cultures and for his church to grow and thrive, we will need to learn how to communicate with people who think very differently. This is not simply a case of adopting a new fashionable communication technique, but of learning to orientate ourselves to a different way of thinking altogether.
North America is increasingly becoming a post-textual society. Together we can bear witness to Christ in this changing world. Join us!
